1stbloggy

I’m finding it hard to believe that almost twelve months ago we packed up our house in Cairns & drove the three thousand odd kilometres south to Sydney. Where we were in limbo with no fixed address, until finding a house to rent in Perth.

This is when Modern Nomads With Kids was born. It was born out of a burning desire to share our stories with family & friends. It stared with photos & very few words, & has grown into a place where I can not only share my photos but also my thoughts.

In celebration of making it to my 1st bloggy anniversary I’ve organised a few giveaways.  And what better way to start the party then with a special day out on the Great Barrier Reef.

Thats right, a full day reef trip for two adults & two children departing Cairns valued at $390.

Down Under Cruise & Dive will take you aboard one of the fastest trips to the true outer edge of the Great Barrier Reef, where you will go to two different locations. You will be treated to a guided snorkelling tour, & glass bottom boat tour.

They wont let you go hungry, there will be plenty of food with a BBQ lunch & tropical salads. And get this, there will even be live entertainment on the return journey.

This voucher is valid until 31st December 2013. So if you live in Cairns, then lucky you. If you’ve already got a holiday to Cairns planned for this year, then firstly I’m jealous & secondly, lucky you. If you are neither of the previous mentioned then this may just provided enough incentive to get online & book those flights to beautiful Tropical North Queensland.

  1. I was a keen diver in a previous life. Thanks to some coral reef ecology courses at Uni – I’ve seen a lot of our gorgeous GBR, but my family (including my North Qld born and bred husband) haven’t seen any of it.
An even happier coincidence is we’re planning a holiday to Cairns in July for the kids’ birthdays – I’d be rapt if I could teach the Big Sister to snorkel on the outer reef! What a memory to make for a fifth birthday!
Great comp Prue – and congrats on your bloggy anniversary!

When driving back from NSW we stopped at the aquarium in Townsville – the kids loved it! We promised them a trip to the reef if they worked really hard at their swimming lessons. This would be awesome!

Prue – can’t believe it’s been a year! We miss you! Keep up the blogging – I thoroughly enjoy this sneak peak into the nomadic life :-)

My husband has just moved to Cairns for work, and we will visit him soon. I have never seen the Great Barrier Reef before, or been snorkelling- what a great adventure!

  10. Tara Parish says:

Love the reef but cannot get out there, and my husbands dive certificate is a little underused at present…

  11. Pip says:

  13. So this year for my birthday – February 15 – my sisters have shouted me a trip to Cairns to spend with them both. I’ve had three children in 3.5 years and my sisters (two) wanted to give me a break away because they can see that I barely manage to stay sane. My oldest sister is a dive instructor and has always wanted to show me ‘Nemo’ – she has spent the past 8 years abroad, but is now back living and working there, and I would love to have a glimpse at what she has seen. I’m pretty scared about leaving my three angels for two nights but I know I need the time away for my sanity and so I can appreciate them more. If we won I would ask my lil’ sis, who can sometimes get cheap flights through Virgin, to fly my hubby and my three angels up to have an awesome holiday together. Okay so maybe my youngest wouldn’t be up for it but he’d had TWO awesome aunties on hand to take of him.
    Thanks for your consideration! Em

This would be awesome. The GBR is right on our doorstep and we don’t take advantage of it.

First of all, congratulations on your blogaversary Prue!

We had a locals pass for one of the reef trip operators and we so enjoyed spending the day snorkelling and enjoying the reef. It’s been a couple of years, and the pass is no longer on offer and we simply can’t afford to go out without that pass, so winning this would be such a treat!

Thanks for letting me know about this giveaway; I appreciate your thinking of me.

  23. Prue,

Your reasons for blogging are so parallel to mine (not the moving, but the desire to share stories, about life, about Mothering, about everything).

Keep sharing your story, it’s a beautiful one!

And holy mother of GOD – what a giveaway!
